Litigation responsibilities are broken down into four Practice Groups: Business Litigation; Insurance; Tort & Professional Liability; and, Alternative Dispute Resolution.
The Insurance Practice Group is involved with all facets of the insurance industry, including underwriting, loss control, claims, risk management, regulatory affairs, and litigation. The Insurance Practice Group has extensive experience with the numerous coverage offered by the industry, including directors and officers, employment practices, fidelity, computer fraud, identity theft, internet activities, electronic data processing, multimedia, intellectual property, professional liability, comprehensive general liability, multi-peril, special multi-peril, all-risk, difference in conditions, automobile, business automobile, homeowners, pollution legal liability, environmental impairment, response action contractor liability, liquid underground storage tank liability, aviation, excess, umbrella, workers' compensation, and facultative and treaty reinsurance. The Insurance Practice Group also offers expertise in administrative proceedings before regulatory agencies, as well as, coverage and bad faith litigation.
The Business Litigation Practice Group handles cases that involve employers, directors and officers, broker dealers, registered representatives, intellectual property, financial institutions, insurance agents, real estate agents, title insurance, commercial lending and collection practices, corporations, joint venturers, partnerships, and sole proprietors.
The Tort & Professional Liability Practice Group handles cases that involve tort cases arising out of negligence, product liability, toxic tort, municipal liability, environmental impairment, automobiles, trucking, premises, innkeepers, garagekeepers, warehousemen, construction, assault and battery, false arrest, malicious prosecution, entertainment, liquor liability, and employee intentional tort; malpractice claims against lawyers, architects, engineers, accountants, doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and nursing homes; and, aviation claims involving pilots, repair stations, and fixed base operators.
The Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group offers unique expertise in alternative dispute resolution through the services of the Honorable Thomas D. Lambros, former Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Judge Lambros is the inventor of the Summary Jury Trial, and has been widely acclaimed throughout the country as a pioneer of alternative dispute resolution. Under the guidance of Judge Lambros, the careful use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, such as Summary Jury Trial, Mini-Trial, Arbitration, Mediation, and Focus Groups serve to reduce costs and expenses, while preserving the effectiveness and utility of the judicial forum.
