Your Workplace, Our Work:
Founded over 45 years ago, KM&M represents businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies, to start-ups, to mom-and-pop shops with respect to all labor, employment, and immigration matters. Combining large-firm expertise and quality with boutique firm flexibility and personalized service is a hallmark of KM&M’s service to its clients.
We Handle All Facets of Labor, Employment, and Immigration Law:
Successfully navigating the range of legal issues and practical difficulties relating to the workplace has become vitally important to the ultimate success of every American business. KM&M specializes in management-side labor, employment, and immigration law, providing our clients with an unmatched depth and range of service within these areas of the law.
KM&M's clients recognize that it takes a specialist to ensure that they are compliant with the myriad federal, state, and city laws and regulations that govern the workplace. They also know that this is what we do - exclusively. That's why clients who tend to use full-service law firms for most of their legal work retain KM&M as their labor, employment, and immigration lawyers. We want our clients to be free to focus on their business, so we make it our business to handle all workplace-related matters for them.
History of the Firm:
KM&M was founded in 1972 by experienced labor lawyers Jerry Kauff and David Dretzin, who wanted to build a firm exclusively devoted to labor and employment law -- a firm large enough to service major businesses, but not so large as to sacrifice personal, professional service.
Recognizing that it was not a "name brand" institution like many of the large firms with which it would compete, KM&M set about to distinguish itself through its entrepreneurial energy, unflagging devotion to its clients' interests and unmatched work product. As a small business struggling for recognition and respect, KM&M understood the business needs and concerns of its clients. For KM&M, our clients' business was and remains our business.
Ray McGuire joined the Firm in 1981, bringing with him a wealth of experience in complex employment litigation and high-profile labor-management relations. Ken Margolis, already a seasoned labor and employment lawyer, joined the Firm in 1985. By 1987 KM&M had outgrown its original Upper East Side townhouse offices, and moved to larger offices in Midtown Manhattan. In November 2017, KM&M expanded its range of workplace-related legal services by adding the renowned Immigration Practice Group headed by Donald Wolfson. While much has changed, the philosophy Jerry developed in the early days has remained the Firm's hallmark: quality work and a passionate, personal commitment to our clients.
