Content is provided by the firm.Since 1946, when Erle A. Kightlinger and Mark W. Gray began practicing law together in Indianapolis, the firm's mission has been to ensure that the interests of our clients are vigorously promoted in a professional, ethical manner. Although their early practice was general in nature, Erle and Mark placed a strong emphasis on litigation skills. Erle and Mark believed that a litigation background would better enable the firm's attorneys to advise clients on how to avoid the costs and uncertainties of lawsuits when possible and how to minimize the expense and risk when litigation cannot be avoided. This perspective allowed the firm to expand into a broad range of non-litigation practice areas and business advisory services in addition to its traditional litigation practice. More than 60 years later, that mission—coupled with deep industry experience and a robust reputation to match—remains.
Today, Kightlinger & Gray, LLP
practices in more than 25 substantive areas, with five offices located
Indiana and Kentucky: Indianapolis, Evansville, Merrillville, and New
Albany, Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky. We were one of the first law
firms to establish a statewide presence by opening an office in
Evansville in 1976. Located in the far southwestern corner of Indiana,
our Evansville office is strategically located to provide convenient
legal assistance to clients in western Kentucky and Indiana. Our New
Albany office opened in 1988 and our Louisville, Kentucky office opened
in 2013. The geographic location of these offices allows us to
conveniently represent clients in the Louisville metro and central
Kentucky areas, as well as Southern Indiana. Several of our firm’s
lawyers are licensed to practice law in Indiana and Kentucky. Our
Merrillville office, opened in 2012, handles matters in northern Indiana
from their Lake County office. Our Indianapolis office represents
clients in the northern two-thirds of the State of Indiana. Because the
activities of so many businesses are not confined to a single town or
city, having a law firm with a regional presence leads to cost effective
representation. Our five offices are tightly connected through
organizational structure and technology, allowing our clients to draw
upon the knowledge of a specific lawyer, regardless of where that
lawyer—or the client, for that matter—is located.
Kightlinger & Gray, LLP is well equipped to meet the needs of clients in both the public and private sectors. The firm has approximately 50 attorneys, making it large enough to handle any size matter, yet small enough to provide personalized, responsive service. Because of Kightlinger & Gray, LLP's membership and participation in various national and international legal organizations, including Lexwork International and The Harmonie Group, we are also able to assist our clients who may be seeking representation in a specific substantive area or jurisdiction that we do not serve.
Kightlinger & Gray, LLP is best known for its litigation capabilities. However, the firm also provides a broad range of non-litigation services. Whether the client requires litigation or non-litigation skills, Kightlinger & Gray, LLP is firmly committed to providing the highest level of professional services at a reasonable cost.
