Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox, LLP (MGKF) is an environmental,
energy, safety, land use law and litigation firm. MGKF’s practice spans the
full range of regulatory compliance, transactional and litigation services
relating to its practice areas. The firm was founded in 1989 by a core group of
attorneys whose experience is grounded in the emergence of the comprehensive
environmental laws enacted in the 1970s and early 1980s. MGKF serves a client
base ranging from small and medium-sized businesses to Fortune 100 companies.
With offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Hawaii, the practice is
based in the Mid-Atlantic region but assists clients with operations across the
country.
Today’s firm consists of a seasoned group of partners complemented
by a dedicated group of associates, technical consultants and paralegals proven
to stay abreast of the global reach of environmental, energy and land use
law. Many of MGKF’s attorneys have additional degrees in science,
engineering and land use planning, and others have served with state and
federal regulatory agencies.
A substantial portion of the firm's practice involves
environmental litigation before administrative tribunals and in federal and
state courts. The firm vigorously defends its clients in a broad variety of
enforcement actions, appeals of agency determinations and Superfund cases, and
has also brought and defended private cost recovery actions arising under
Superfund and state law and toxic tort suits. MGKF has successfully defended
high profile projects against third party challenges.
MGKF
has developed an extensive regulatory counseling practice providing advice to
clients on the myriad of current and emerging environmental requirements.
Advice is provided in the context of regulatory compliance, permitting, brownfields,
real estate and business transactions, and enforcement actions. Guidance is
also provided in performing environmental audits and developing corporate
environmental policies and procedures.
Our firm is one of
the few nationally that employ in-house technical consultants with engineering
degrees that work with firm attorneys to provide
assistance with the many complex, scientific issues that are an integral part
of an environmental law practice. MGKF’s three technical consultants
provide regular guidance to our attorneys and clients regarding technical
issues relating to air, water and waste permitting, site remediation, and
auditing and compliance issues and also provide litigation support to the
firm’s lawyers and clients regarding expert selection, expert report
preparation and management of environmental consultants in non-litigation
matters.
